Text reads “The Sketch, Christmas Number, 1895.” Born in Newport, Monmouthshire, Harold Stephen “Hal” Ludlow was an illustrator for Dalziel Brothers publications, and a political cartoonist. He worked for numerous magazines including Sketch, Chums, The Illustrated London News, and the Penny Illustrated
