Unknown - Holtzapffel

I'm posting this in the hope that someone might recognise the image.

 

It's a Figure=It=Out that i bought a long time ago but have only recently got all the missing pieces cut. My thanks to Howard for those.

 

My daughter is doing a great job of painting them - see next photo - but ideally we'd like to know what the guy's expression is exactly?! Looks like shock, but the lady is smiling ?

 

Any ideas?
