The World - G.Humphries, c.1850s

I bought this as a restoration project. ALL the paper had come away from the wood and so had all the pink tissue paper originally glued to the underside of each piece. On close inspection you can see that not all the pieces of paper fitted back exactly on their wooden piece ... i think some of the wooden pieces and some of the paper must have shrunk a mm or two over time in the box.

Linda Hannas has Humphries in Jerusalem Passage (Jewsalem Passage on this Humphries puzzle box presumably being its original name) in Clerkenwell in 1854-1855, but I think this map is older than that. Western Australia is still called New Holland on the map which (according to Wikipedia) was officially renamed Western Australia in 1832.

Note also that Humphreys is spelt differently and with a different address (39 Banner St., St.Luke's) on the puzzle and box ?!
