22+55 Lockheed F-104G Starfighter in Special marks for JBG-34, the last GAF operator of the F-104
Jagd Bomber Geschwader 34 (JBG-34) used to be based at nearby Memmingen Air Base which closed some years ago. This Starfighter was painted in these special commeorative marks for an air-display there. The colours are basically the blue and white of Bavaria and are based on the squadron's badge, which see elsewhere. The Star languished at Memminen for some time after the base closed until it was airlifted as an underslung road by a German Army CH-53G in March 2003. The German Stars were built on several different production lines, this is an example built by Messerschmitt Bolkow Blohm.
