Seat stay actual.

Seat stay cap actual.

I learned a bit from my previous test pieces. They came out o.k. the main difference here, I book matched the tops, because the form of the Mokume pattern, and how the particular pattern develops when you put in deep bevels, I also brazed them on patterned face down, or pattern to the tube (up in the pic) because as the pattern forms into this particular bar (rose pattern) it disappears, particularly on the outside of the bar compared with the centre, and I cut the raw original stock pc. In half when I started this thing because the material was wide enough for two pcs. side to side (opps).

So I figured as I bevel the pattern it should get more defined as opposed to less, particularly on one side.

This is my running hypothesis, will find out.

A few knifemakers Mokume Gane patterns are available that are brass/ nickel silver, that the pattern goes all the way through the bar, unfortunately they are currently on vacation, so I decided to forge ahead with the material in hand, which is copper/nickel silver, not sterling silver!!!

I am very interested in doing this in SST. but I envision some major problems with masking and etching them, because it has to done with a muratic acid based solution after the stays are brazed to the main triangle...which will be difficult.

Sometimes one has to ask for help. Help, but not yet. It’s a heads up for later.

Thanks!
