Editorial make-up 1
I was inspired to do an editorial make-up look through studying and recreating Terry Richardson's photo shoot that he did with supermodel Cara Delevingne during my photography personal study, which I focused on modern studio photography. I wanted to recreate this look as I greatly admire the model and I also enjoyed the photographer’s take on modern make-up seen in this shoot as typically in black and white portraiture models tend to be made up quite softly to counteract the harshness of the editing, but here Richardson, in his usual style, has embraced the harsh over contrasted vibe and has ensured Cara Delevingne's makeup reflect this as it too is highly contrasted, her brows and lashes especially boldly stand out against the white of her flawless made up skin. This make-up also draw the viewer attention to the model’s trademark eyebrows which were often downplayed by companies such as Burberry who when working with the model had her brows lightened and shaped to whatever eyebrow trend was in Vogue, whereas now Cara’s signature wild brows are darkened further to empathize the model’s individuality to the standard model look.
