Dewy editorial make-up

The using a matte contour shade contoured my model's face to add dimension, focusing the product under her cheekbones to make this area especially prominent as portraits taken with strong flash can leave the model appearing two dimensional and washed out.

I then moved onto defining and darkening my model's brows, I used a darker shade than I usually would have because when working within a studio I know from previous experience that the flash can actually take away almost 20 percent of colour! So I ensured that her brows looked extremely dark as I wanted them to appear dark in the photographs too, but I still blended them out so they didn't appear ridiculously drawn on.

I then applied a wash of a dark matte brown eye shadow to my model's eye lid to add some subtle definition and darkness there, whilst covering up any veins that were showing through the thin skin of the ye lids.

Using a fine detail brush and a black eye shadow I roughly lined my model's upper and lower lash line to make her eyes stand out and appear bolder, I ensured that I kept blending the shadow out with my finger to keep the hazy look that I was after.

I then used a cream highlighter to highlight my model's cheekbones and brow bone to giver her skin the dewy effect that I wanted to create.

Then using a coal black eye liner pencil I went back to the eyes and tight lined the eyes because I decided that they weren't bold enough yet.

To finish the eyes I applied several coats of thickening jet black mascara to my model's upper and lower eye lashes to darken them and make the yes stand out further, then using a clean cotton pad with some make-up remover on it I corrected any mistakes that I'd made.

Finally I reapplied some more concealer under the eyes where some had been removed when I corrected the eye make-up.

Finally I applied a nude lipstick to the lips to add some subtle colour but not enough too take attention away from the eyes.

I also made a time lapse video of me applying this make-up look onto my model and friend Rachel : www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZGz3D8gvY8
