Gory zombie look 2

When I felt the my face wound had dried enough I started to apply a mix of red, brown and black face paint with a sponge around where I wanted the rip to be as I want the skin surrounding the wound to look very sore and inflamed.

I then used a toothpick to poke a hole through the layers of tissue to create the break in the ‘skin’ then using my fingers to make the ‘wound’ larger and also you my fingers to tear the edges of the ‘wound’ to create a jagged, more realistic, appearance.

Then using my smaller detail brush I mixed together red, brown and black face paint to create a dark blood colour as I want ed the wound to look deep and almost as if it had been festering for a while as I wanted my zombie to look quite war torn, I used the darkest shade of the blood to paint around the inside of the wound to give the wound some depth and dimension and to make it appear to have been festering for a while due to the aged look of the blood.

I then repeated these steps on the 'wound' that I created on my shoulder but I used darker shades of reds and black there to make that wound look slightly older than the facial wound because I wanted this wound to appear to be where the initial zombie virus was first transmitted.

I felt that my forehead look slightly to bare so I added a small latex wound there too using the same steps as I did with the other wounds but I used slightly less layers of tissues to give the appearance of a slightly shallower wound to give the wounds more variation, I also applied a much more red toned blood to this wound as I wanted it to appear to be slightly fresher than the other wounds.

While the latex on my forehead wound was drying I too this time to dirty up my face some more as I still felt that it looked too clean, so I took a mixture of red, black and brown face paints and smudged them on random part of my face to give the appearance of general dirt and perhaps old rashes.

To complete the blood and add some extra gore I applied generous amounts of fake blood into the wounds, so much so that some wounds were overflowing with blood, which I personally loved because I felt it looked just gory enough for my liking. I then back combed my hair a lot to give the appearance of generally unkempt hair that zombies tend to have.

I also create a time lapse video of the make-up process and uploaded it to my Youtube channel : www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrXZIg4cm-Q
