What a lucky day!! A bobcat!
The crows were going crazy ....for several hours before I got to see this guy.....or girl... ya just never know with bobcats .. until you see babies ..... and, it is about the time for them....
At about 7 am the crows began flapping around and yelling their beaks off about something. I hoped to see an owl or maybe a hawk leave a nearby tree ...but, hours went by ... they just seemed to move around in the trees on the nearby golf course.
Then, about 10 ... after I had been going from window to window most of the morning...I saw it! Strolling across the neighbour's driveway and into the bushes of one of the gardens.
Still didn't even have the right lens on the camera as I wasn't really thinking of trying to photo an escaping owl... just get the pleasure of seeing one.... so had to sprint for the camera...
Watched for another 20 minutes or more ..and, it eventually sauntered out of the bushes and back across the driveways... I did take a few shots ..but pretty far away ... even for close cropping. Then, it turned and headed for the house directly across from us... and, I quickly went out the back door and onto the street. Walked up closer to their yard and was able to see it sitting in the garden.
It saw me right away, but they are pretty cheeky.... no fear. It almost looked a bit sleepy. No wonder after being harassed by loud crows all morning...my own ears were ringing from all the "cawing" and by that time, the crow that is my little buddy was on the privacy wall yelling. his head off too.
I talked softly to the bobcat and told him I just wanted a few photos and then I'd leave him to look for his long awaited breakfast.
He walked into the garden and listened for a mouse... then, moved a bit further up and walked straight onto the porch and around to the other side of the garden... he stopped ... got into the pounce position ...and, ... false alarm. Or... the critter vanished into a hole or something. So, he stood up ...turned to look at me .. it wasn't really a glare or anything.... just decided to leave......went up the driveway and over a 6 foot fence like he was a feather floating up on a breeze. Gone.
Such a beauty!!
