Bernie packs me a lunch

BERNIE: "Hey.... you weren't supposed to be here yet" .... "I thought you went grocery shopping".

 

ME: "Well, I sprinted up and down the aisles..and, got out of there fast today."

"What are you doing"?

 

BERNIE: "It was going to be a surprise".

 

"Brown paper and cookies, tied up with string" ..."get it"?

 

ME: "uhmm.... no" ... "That isn't really how the song goes" ...

 

BERNIE: "No, but back in the olden days... that's how they wrapped up cookies and stuff isn't it"? ....

 

ME: "Well, yes, I guess so...why"?

 

BERNIE: "I thought I could wrap up some cookies just like your Mom used to do for you kids when you said you were going to run away"..... in the olden days"...
