African lion Dash was very excited by the blue ball. I had thought there was some sort of treat smeared on it. Nope, a keeper told me this morning he got so excited that he was getting into it with his brother over the ball...for 3 days & nights. This was the first time the lions ever stayed outside at night b/c the keepers couldn't get them in. Buddy & Dash typically get along very well, grooming each other & playing.
They eventually needed to medicate them with gabapentin to chill them out, had no idea they use that for hyper behavior in animals (common drug for humans). They are fine now .
