Xiaomi Launches MIUI 7 and Limited Editions of Mi 4i in India

At its 2015 India MIUI 7 Premiere event in New Delhi, Xiaomi launched its long-waited MIUI 7 Beta ROM along with some variants of Mi 4i under ‘limited edition’ tag. The Chinese company has launched the Mi 4i in three new color variants – Yellow, Pink and Blue. Until now, the Mi 4i was available in Dark Grey and White color only. All of the newcomers come with same price tag i.e. INR 12,999 as the original comes.

 

Talking about MIUI 7 Beta ROM, it can be installed on all Xiaomi-branded Beta-supported phones including Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G. The company has officially revealed that MIUI 7 Beta ROM will be available to download from this Monday i.e. 24th of August.

 

Some of the highlights of MIUI 7 Beta ROM are:

1.   4 new default themes – High Life, Ocean Breeze, Pink Blush and Rose.

2.   New lock screen feature which changes the lock screen wallpaper daily.

3.   Up to 30 percent better response while multitasking than MIUI 6.

4.   Reduction in modem power and background processes to save up to 10 percent battery life.

5.   XXL font size addition.

6.   Baby Album feature which recognizes the faces of babies and creates albums automatically.

7.   A new Child Mode which allows users to restrict selected apps from being accessible. The Child Mode also allows to add passwords and mute notifications from selected applications.

8.   MUSE – a new feature which allows users to create their own themes and animations without getting into coding.

9.   Auto optimization which automatically optimizes apps and accelerates CPU.

10. Support for 10 Indian regional languages.

11. Data Saver feature which compresses browser and in-app media letting users save up to 50 percent of data. (will be rolled out through OTA in September this year).

 

Further, one of the most interesting features of MIUI 7 Beta ROM is Visual IVR which helps users to reduce the time required to navigate automated voice menus when calling to a customer support helpline. Xiaomi’s Visual IVR will show the IVR menu on phone’s screen so that user can select their desired menu quickly. Xiaomi has also revealed that Visual IVR has support for more than 50 companies’ customer support numbers.
