IMG_1621 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

The uncommon Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is the only Woodpecker that migrates each year. This male took up residence at my suet feeders for about 2 weeks during the coldest part of the winter and viciously defended it against all other Woodpeckers. This is the first time in 20 years of feeding birds that a Sapsucker has utilized our feeders.
