Sandra Brewster (b. 1973 )
The child of Guyanese parents, Sandra Brewster is a Toronto-based Canadian artist. Her practice reflects a multilayered sense of identity, born of a collision between place and time. She completed a BFA at York University, and a Master of Visual Studies at the University of Toronto. She has exhibited internationally, and her work is in numerous private and public collections.
Brewster is a recipient of the Gattuso Prize at the CONTACT Festival (2017), the Toronto Friends of Visual Arts Artist Prize (2018), and was a finalist for the 2023 Scotiabank Photography Award. In 2024, she was the recipient of the prestigious Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award.
