Inventions

Inventions, such as the steam engine, fly shuttle, spinning jenny, etc were very popular because the Industrial Revolution was trying to encourage mechanized labor over human labour. This lead to an expanded, and a wealthier population because production of goods increased. This related back to classical liberalism because individuals were taking decisions in their own self-interest, and they were exploring their economic freedom without any limitations. Individuals were making decisions that were not only benefitting themselves, but also the society as a whole through their inventions because the machines or inventions were making a lot of work easier and faster. Even though these inventions lead to a lot of capital, it also lead to many labor workers losing their jobs because of the machines. This decreased their quality of life, and while others were getting wealthier, these individuals were lead to poverty.
