Arrival at Tiraspol: A Quiet Freight

During our visit to Pridnestrovie, we were there to experience the Republic Day celebration and explore Europe’s most remote “country.” After the festivities on September 2nd, we had an appointment at the famous Kvint cognac factory the next day. With a few hours to spare that morning, we decided to wander around the city, eventually finding ourselves at the abandoned train station.
As we crossed the pedestrian overpass, we suddenly heard an announcement over the loudspeaker. A few minutes later, a freight train arrived, hauling three loaded wagons filled with a white industrial raw material. The train dispatcher, papers in hand, walked toward it to manage the arrival. Since passenger services were suspended due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, freight trains like this are now one of the few signs of movement on the railway.
