Soon to be gone... II.

06.08.2020. - Nagycenk

The first modification of the current timetable will take effect from 11th April. It brings a lot of changes, especially in West Hungary.

The four pairs of semi-fast trains between Szombathely and Pécs will be replaced by a new brand, called Pannónia InterRegio. These IR trains will drive every second hour between the two cities, making way more connections then nowadays.

The sad thing in this new system is that these trains will be operating with Desiro DMU's.

It means, that the classical loc and wagon compiled trains will disappear from this iconic railway line.

On this shot the train 8902 (Sopron - Pécs) is passing by a new overpass shortly after the village of Nagycenk. After the modification of the timetable this train will be cut. On the northern part - Sopron-Szombathely - it will be replaced with a FLIRT EMU, and in Szombathely you'll be forced to change to the previously mentioned Pannónia IR.

With this decision the last locomotive towed local train will disappear from the GySEV lines.
