Urban City View
This is a pastel work done on colored paper. Each square contains a difference aspect of a city. A boarder outlines each one with part of the image popping out, to showing an illusion of depth, graphite was used around the edges of each frame to add to the effect. My historical influence for this piece was Claude Oscar Monet, whom was a famous french painter who would normally work on landscapes and natural scenes. His style looked very similar to oil pastel to me and his color schemes were very done and I had hoped to incorporate them into my own work. But ended up making my own color scheme for each one. I chose to do the city design and these certain aspects because when I think of the city these are the first few things that come to mind. The city lights down the side of the highway, the birds exploding out of a tree because something bellow had scared them off, and the view of the city from the waters shore with the nights lights and reflection on the waters surface.
