18% Grey
My favorite cap! My dad bought this at the George Eastman House (Eastman/Kodak Museum) in Rochester New York Years ago. It looks clean because I think its too good to wear. How twisted is that that I do not wear my favorite hat!
18% Grey is the level of grey to which in camera light meters attempt to meter a scene. In other words, your camera meter assumes that whatever you are metering is reflecting back light that averages 18% grey over the entire frame. That is why when you meter a snow scene it will expose dark and you end up with grey snow.
