Remains of the roads which king Frederik II had built in 1584. The old road was built as a privileged connecting road between the castles Frederiksborg and Kronborg and was reserved for the king, his entourage and nobles. The Kongevej was blocked off with red-painted barriers, to which one had to have a key if one had the right to travel along it. If unauthorized persons were caught using it, they were severely punished.
