Corrugated Citadel.
Carlisle station roof.
I have never bothered to try and find out, when Carlisle dropped the Citadel element from its name,
Much like other stations have dropped titles from their names,
I remember when Bryn (Nr Wigan) was Brynn for Ashton-in-Makerfield, for instance, they must have dropped the second "N" around the same time.
Though "Brynn" is still in evidence on at least one terrace row on Wigan Road, on the Ashton side of the station.
Another is St Helens Central, why drop the Shaw Street it hasn't moved, it is still on Shaw Street.....
They haven't changed the St Helens Junction name, even though it hasn't been a junction for some considerable time.
Maybe i'm becoming a grumpy old man ;-)))
