Kangaroo Ridge from Washington Pass overlook, Washington state, US

This is part of the Goldenhorn batholith, a large magma body underlying a volcano at one time. Now it is solidified, uplifted and exposed at the surface. Indeed, this magma body was so voluminous that it fed a super volcano with eruption greater than 1000 cubic kilometers of ash in a single eruption in the past. Not many places on earth where one can walk up to such a large pluton.
