Spider-Man: Book of Revelation (Part 6)

Proverbs: 10:9: “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”

Back in Fisk Tower a small squad of police officers surveyed the damage to the window while another team of men dusted for fingerprints and scoured for DNA samples. Ultimately, the latter group came up cold. Although a rookie, Peter had had received great advice from an ally, the same one who designed his web shooters, and would ensure that Peter would never leave behind evidence. His costume was created out of a microfiber blend which managed to trap skin cells and keep fingerprints from being left on any surface, all while allowing Peter to use his powers as was required. It made sense if you didn’t think about it. Reporting their findings, or lack there of to Fisk, the crime lord smiled at the men.

“The boy is more cunning than I imagined,” he said. “No matter.”

He turned to officers Carter and Stacey who were standing closer to the left side of Fisk’s desk now with Elektra. “Access the building’s cameras,” he told them. “See if the spider vigilante’s physique matches up with anyone in the city. Start with anyone who has had any ties with Ben Parker, even the most remote of them. We will leave no stone unturned. This man has great importance to the boy so he has to be family of some sort. Narrow down your search with the boy’s voice, it is obvious that he disguises it. Pre-pubescence is not hard to miss. You have all been given audio recorders in your uniforms so you may refer to those.”

Suddenly, the double mahogany doors of the office opened and the rhythmic pitter-patter of elegant shoes on marble flooring dominated the environment. It was Wilson Fisk’s assistant Wesley, a man with an average build and combed over red hair. His glasses lay precariously balanced on his nose, a large part of his ever so exasperated face. Ensuring to close the doors behind him, he did so softly and then took a moment to collect himself. He turned around and instantly began to speak with a voice which reflected the high importance of the situation.”

“I see that Spider-Man declined your offer.”

Fisk nodded.

“It was quite the scene. I was watching from the monitors in the hall. I suppose the informants really were about the vigilante’s imminent arrival. It seems one feels compelled to tell the truth when a super human breaks your bones.”

“Don’t even get me started,” said Fisk. “The spider has put nearly a sixth of our men in the hospital or prison in his quest for justice. A trail of bread crumbs in the form of crippled thugs.”

“I must ask you though, why did you let him go without a fight?” replied Wesley. “You had Elektra and the armed guards. They could have taken him.”

“Indeed Wesley,” Fisk stated. “But we knew he required information about Ben Parker and we gave it to him. Enough of it in fact to put down our competition. We will most likely be meeting him on Sunday at Manfreddi’s gala. Manfreddi will be the final stair to climb before I solidify my placement as the head of this business Wesley, and it will all be thanks to a kid that thinks he is making a difference in the world.”

“Play your cards right Mr. Fisk and this entire country will be in your pocket.”

“That is the goal Wesley. However, I do not want this to go south. If Spider-Man realizes what we are doing the safety of this entire company could be put on the line.”

What Fisk meant to say was that his own safety could be put on the line.

“Contact Shultz and get him here as soon as possible. Also, get a jet ready. Our associate operating out of Wakanda has finally replied to us and is ready to meet.”

“When will we be departing sir?”

“As soon as possible. Getting out of this brutal weather and into the African sun will do us wonders.”

Wesley nodded in agreement, saying that he would get the job done and proceeded to leave the room.

Elektra moved from her corner of the room and towards Wesley. They walked out together. Upon arriving in the hall outside of Fisk’s office and closing the doors behind them Wesley leaned in and whispered to her, “stay close. Shultz is a buffoon and our new guy from Wakanda hasn’t accepted coming here just yet. Sunday is a big day for everyone involved. Keeping Wilson Fisk out of the crosshairs of the Spider-Man and Silvermane is our top priority.

Elektra nodded and continued walking with Wesley asking, “and what of Norman Osborn?”

Wesley continued walking but and returned to a whispering tone, saying, “His hands stay clean.” 
