Plencia, antiguamente llamado Placencia, (en euskera y oficialmente Plentzia) es un municipio de la provincia de Vizcaya (País Vasco, España). Se encuentra a unos 25 kilómetros al norte de la capital, Bilbao, en la costa, en el noroeste de la provincia. La villa de Plencia se ubica en la margen derecha del último meandro de su ría, justo antes de su desembocadura en la bahía de Plentzia, a la que también se asoman los pueblos vecinos de Górliz y Barrica. Con una extensión de 11,17 km², Plencia tiene una población de 4 146 personas según el censo del año 2008[cita requerida] y en verano se suele multiplicar por cuatro debido a la afluencia de veraneantes.

The village of Plencia is located on the right bank of the last meander its estuary, just before it flows into the Bay of Plentzia, which the neighboring towns of Górliz and Barrel is also looming.
