Tilley Manual Fire Pump 1847

Tilley Company of the Blackfriars Road in London, which developed the distinctive type of manual fire engine known as the London Fire Brigade Engine around 1841. The Tilley "side-pumper" engine was a significant progression from the earlier "end-stroke" models, enabling more men to take part in the pumping operations.
