Ryloth is pretty.
It's just the view is kinda ruined by all the destruction around us.
CT-6542///Cod: "Okaay guys, listen up. Command's got new orders. I'm downloading them to my comlink now. Stand by."
CT-6784///Dyre: "Any chance the orders go by a scenic route? I hear the monuments around here are impressive. Especially after being blown up, and all."
CT-5432///Hedge: "Shut up Dyre. No one needs your sarcasm. You get lost again, were not coming to find you. God knows how much time we wasted looking for you."
CT-6542///Cod: "Shut up both of you! ( under breath ) Ugh, stupid system..
"..................."
CT-6542///Cod: "Got it." Commands are uploading now....Good..OK guys, here's the deal, the third regiment has been tasked with entering the city and securing it. Apparently It's Vidal to the capture of the spaceport. Says, that the force were up against consists mainly of B1's and elite snipers, so watch your back."
CT-5372///Twitch: "Great. Snipers. Something tells me this is going to be a long day."
CT-6542///Cod: "Hold up. That's not all. Supposedly, the sepretist have been using the twi'lek as human shields, and were supposed to enter the houses slowly and systematically with battering rams, so as not to result in a mass murder of the Twi'leks. And, were denied heavy weaponry."
CT-5432///Hedge: "Pffffftt. What else is new??"
CT-6542//Cod: "There's Jabiimi."
so, in a nutshell, our assault on the trenches wasn't half bad.
About mid-morning today, the fire in the trenches ceased, and the Republic flag rose above the war-torn field. We've taken the trench, but we've yet to take the spaceport.
After we had found Dyre( who had gotten lost ) I moved my squad to the outskirts of the city to regroup, and discuss our next move.
After we had received our next orders( and given Dyre a pep talk about running off ) we began the descent into the city, along with the rest of the third regiment, avoiding each other as much as possible, as not to draw attention.
Eventually, I selected several houses in the more middle-class sector, and we began to clear them.
The first house was empty. The second house contained two droids, which we easily downed, but no Twi'leks.
On the third house, scanners showed a small presence, consisting of six droids, and four Twi'leks. We moved cautiously, until Twitch had destroyed the door, whereupon we charged into the house with blasters blazing.( well, not exactly )
After a short fight, all six droids and one Twi'lek, lay dead on the floor. We moved the surviving three Twi'leks out of the house, where I commanded my squad to escort them back to safer zones, while I investigated a nearby courtyard, that I had seen several shots being fired from.
My squad persisted, telling me it was to dangerous to move alone, but I waved them briskly on.
"Someone needs to get these Twi'leks to safety," I snapped "Once you get them back to the safe zone, you can meet back here, I'll be here."
After they had got going, I immediately moved towards the courtyard, while staying near the wall, as not to be spotted.
Approaching from behind, I doubled down a alley, so I would be able to approach the courtyard from behind. As soon as I had reached the small archway leading into the courtyard, I peeked around the wall, to find out what I was up against.
The inner courtyard was smaller then I inspected, mainly concealed by narrow walls, one of which was burning.
Inside the courtyard, two B1s and a laying down figure, clad in blue and black, cradling a modified cycler rifle.
I had never seen a jabiimi before, seeing as I had been recently transferred, and had not taken part in the campaign on Jabiim, but I had a pretty good guess this was one of them.
After accessing the droid positions, and noting their obvious carelessness with watching the Jabiimi's back, I waited until the Jabiimi was engrossed in his job, whereon I could fall upon them, and overcome them easily.
As soon as I was sure both droids backs were turned, I spun around the wall launching myself on the droid, dropping my DLT, to make my job easier.
The droid shrieked, but I immediately snapped off it's neck in one move, sending it's lifeless body to the ground.
The second droid wasn't much better off. After decapitating the other droid, I used the head to whack It's weapon from it's hand, which i snatched off the ground and destroyed it instantly, in one move.
The startled Jabiimi immediately leaped to his feet, dropping his rifle, and reaching for his small sidearm, as he spun towards me.
"Stop."
The single word stopped him, as he finished his spin with a jerk, and eyed the blaster in my hand.
His dark eyes traveled from it, up to me, where he squinted at my helmet.
"Who the heck are you??" He demanded.
I raised an eyebrow.
"I'm a clone."
He cocked his head, and gave a sharp frown.
"And I am Jabiimi, but that's not what I asked."
I took a deep breath, wondering what prompted me to say the next few words.
"I am Sargent Codney, of the 253rd."
His frown turned into a twisted, hateful smile, and he gave a short bark of laughter.
"The 253rd... heh. I remember you. You bloody, mud-suckers, with your jedi, and republic. Your nothing but killers, clone. Made to kill for them."
I glared at him, though he never saw it.
"I suppose what you are doing here, is for the greater good of the Twi'leks, then." I replied, in a cold voice, fingering the trigger of the blaster.
He shrugged, his hand holding the blaster, slowly moving up.
"What I do, is for the greater good of my planet," He replied. "Not for the good of the bloody republic-"
I shot him. As he was speaking, he had begun to slowly raise his blaster to a up-position, where he would be able to shoot me. It was a stupid idea, and I had immediately noticed it, before he had been able to raise it to the correct position.
The Jabiimi stumbled back, dropping his smoking blaster, which he had shot, and missed at me. He dropped to the ground, wide-eyed, and wheezing.
I stepped over to his lifeless form and looked down at him, a twisted horrified look imprinted on his face.
"What I do, I do for the greater good of the republic, jabiimi....and the emperor."
I stumbled back, walking out of the courtyard, and leaving the three forms, all dead.
I walked out the arch, and practically threw up, snatching off my helmet to avoid splattering it with my vomit.
I sat there, just retching, Horrified at the jabiimi, horrified at my actions...and most of all horrified of my words.
Where had that come from??
I leaned up, and replaced my helmet, retrieving my rifle from the ground, and I began to make my way slowly across road to the building.
I reached it and went inside, sitting down on a small bench where I sat like a bump on a log, in a sort of shocked haze.
I have lived my life killing as a blood-thirsty cold murder, with no purpose, or convection. I have led my squad into battle, not even knowing who I was. I have not served the republic, I have served death.
No more.
