Staring into the abyss

Wood storks feed on a variety of prey items including fish, frogs, crayfish, large insects, and occasionally small alligators and mice. However, fish make up the bulk of their diet. An average nesting pair, with two fledglings, may eat over 400 pounds of fish during a single breeding season.

This Wood Stork was about to enjoy a Plecostomus (part of the catfish family) at Upper Myakka Lake, Florida.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.
