*Proposed Cutback* Go Ahead London WVL470 LJ61NWZ
In a recent consultation, TFL have highlighted surplus capacity in Gallions Reach and Beckton, and as a result Route 101 has been proposed to terminate at Beckton Station instead of Gallions Reach. However this arrangement would be temporary with other plans showing that the route would be extended to Royal Albert Dock to support new developments.
I have to say that I do agree with TFL, I do travel quite a lot around the area and I've noticed that buses aren't always the most well used between Beckton and Gallions Reach and especially with Covid, passengers numbers are considerably lower. However with this proposed change, shoppers would only be driven away from the area, especially with Route 366 proposed to be the only daytime connection to Gallions Reach, which is not as frequent as Routes 101 & 262, it will put off people from waiting and having to change buses which will result in less shoppers and potential harm to businesses in the long run. So for that reason I would at least consider keeping the 262 going to East Beckton, and also for nostalgia reasons it would be great if the 101 were to keep going to Gallions Reach, but it's all down to decisions made by TFL which basically means it's going to happen regardless of anyone's opinions.
