Eastern Screech Owl

Megascops asio (old name is Otus asio)

 

This adult owl flew out of a nest box containing a large baby. We distrubed it by inserting a pole camera into the box to count the babies. The nest box was put up 15 years ago and has been used both by Southeastern American Kestrels and Eastern Screech owls.
