Blue September

I woke up around 3am, high in the mountains above Crested Butte Colorado, freezing my butt off and not really having slept. I was frustrated. The skies had been perfectly clear with no dramatic light. The leaves hadn’t changed much yet. So, on a middle of the night whim, I drove off to seek something different. I ended up at this lake and although it was still too dark to see if the leaves had turned to their autumn colors, I could tell the reflection in the lake would be spectacular. Just as the light creeped into the sky, mist rose from the lake and caught the light, glowing a neon blue.
