37607 Pinhoe

Firstly, I want to apologise for the lack of any updates for the past six weeks or so. A combination of poor weather, lack of anything interesting about locally and work commitments has meant I just haven't been out much with the camera as much as I would've liked recently, nor have I really had any time to edit any pictures. Although I have been out on a couple of occasions, mostly to try out some long exposure night stuff; some of my recent efforts may appear on this site in due course.

I did make the short run down the M5 to Exeter on a damp evening this week. The loco to peak my interest was Harry Needle's 37607, which had been leading the monthly UTU test train around Devon and Cornwall. The diagram on this particular night was the 3Q07 20.31 Exeter Riverside-Exeter Riverside via Salisbury. DBSO 9702 was tailing for reversal later into the night. The tractor paused at Pinhoe for around ten minutes to allow the preceding South Western Railway's unit to clear the single line section up to Honiton. This photo is the best of the bunch taken in challenging weather at an exposed location. It’s also noteworthy that I believe this was my first visit to this station in spite of the fact that I drive through Pinhoe nearly every week.
