A late-afternoon CrossCountry HST diagram on the down is not something that is regularly seen in Devon, but a fine May Saturday produced with 43239 leading Intercity Executive 43184 and XC02 through Starcross with the 1V54 06.54 Edinburgh-Plymouth service, unusually diverted through the Erewash Valley in Derbyshire due to engineering works. The picturesque Exe Estuary is an amazing backdrop for this image. To the right in the farthest distance is the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre at Lympstone.
