43384+43357 Magor

43384 thunders through Magor and past an array of PW machinery and equipment, on the 1V44 05.44 Leeds-Exeter St Davids CrossCountry service. This unfortunately turned out to be final visit to this location before this route was electrified; I haven't been back since, yet.

South Wales isn't the first place you would normally expect to find a CrossCountry HST; indeed they are rarely found in this part of the Isles. On this occasion in the Autumn of 2018, long distance services were rerouted via Newport owing to engineering works at Bristol Parkway, with certain workings truncated rather than continuing to Plymouth or Penzance to ensure a near-normal timetable could continue to operate in spite of the extended journey times caused by the diversion.
