Cosmetics

Most woman have some type of beauty routine that they abide by almost if not every day. But what really makes something beautiful? The answer from some now and days would be makeup. Originating in Egypt and being increasingly popular to this day, cosmetics are a type of substance that people, either men or women, wear. Cosmetics are used to hide imperfections, like concealer, or enhance their looks with certain techniques like contour. The use of cosmetics can be considered an art where the canvases include the face and body; some people feel more attractive when they have a full face of artwork, while others may feel a little mascara and filled in brows will do the trick. Then there are those who enjoy a bare canvas.

Cosmetics (paints) take on different forms and functions that cater to one thing more than another. For example, there are matte lipstick paint or cream eyeshadow with a good primer so it will last all day. The makeup palettes come in a variety of colors that people use for their canvas to either look natural or stand out. The anti-aging products look so attractive and mature that middle aged women use it as a type of varnish for their face. Not only do adults partake in the paint that is known as cosmetics, there are ones for little girls too. Like having a little easel, we have barbie makeup kits to give to our daughters so they can wear makeup to look like the princesses they see on television. Therefore, cosmetics are made for anyone.

There are stores dedicated to selling the cosmetics for a hefty price. But what makes us want to buy them? The models or beauty gurus on Instagram or YouTube promoting make the paint look so nice that we want to take it home and try it to see for ourselves. After watching and following these videos or pages, one will go into an Ulta or Sephora (gallery) and look at the ridiculous price of $12 for a tube of mascara and $54 for a NAKED palette plus tax. Then the first thought "Is it worth it?" comes to mind and we ask a beauty clerk (curator) or looking at reviews on how good the product is looking for an objective view that can help.

Everyone's experience with the finished work is different. We often wonder how the finished product will turn out, especially after spending money on the products that are said to help. Some people love the sounds of compliments and attention they get from strangers when they wear it, attributing to their esteem. Others may not like the way the color of the paint looks on them or how it feels on their canvas. There are times the artist makes a mistake on their canvas and have to fix it, causing pentimenti. Though perfume is not something seen, it is something people can smell. The beauty in it is that not only can someone enhance their canvas, but also make the environment more appeasing. Cosmetics are interesting because they represent a type of street art, painted to be seen by others while making the artist proud.
