Why is everyone always staring at me!

3 avis -- all me with a camera-view-saving hud

 

Just so you know I am not blogging for anyone so it's not an ad but I love this hud because it let me put myself as a frame girl, fish and monkey in the same place with the same camera view without using a green screen. I found the Timeless Photo hud at the Focus Photography Fair which had some cool things just for photographers like this hud and eeps and stuff.

 

All three avatars are me and I photographed myself in the SL Domino Photo Studio box at the Photo Fair with Sandy Burgess' Timeless Hud's Photography Hud. You can save your camera view on the hud which allowed me to pop home to change avis and then pop back to arrange my "new model" self on the set, then click the button and I took the same photograph with the same view. I even finished the last shot the next day as I had to go do something so came back to SL later.

 

I love that the hud saved my camera view. I layered the 3 photographs in photoshop and then just erased wherever my avatar was.

 

I learned about the hud at a "photo storytelling" class given by Wren Carling at the Photo Fair.

Used to be free on Winkler's New Moon space. I got it back in 2017 but the sim is gone so no more free baby orangutan. He still sells monkeys avatars and a giant gorilla on SL marketplace. marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/9949

 

Avatar 3 : Meta_Body Frame Girl by Meilo (meilo.minotaur)

Used to be free as part of the 2011 Meta_Body project headed up by CapCat Ragu and Meilo Minotaur at the Delicatessen sim. At this point, looks like the free strange avatars that were part of the Meta-Body project are no longer available as the sim is currently under construction and the Meta-Body project is gone. I don't know when the sim will reopen or if the strange avatars will be placed back out but the sim has art projects on an irregular basis. I originally did this photo for the SL Domina photo contest at the Focus Photography Fair but misunderstood the deadline. I thought it was a photo submission deadline but it is actually the voting on the photos deadline so I was too late to get any votes as I submitted the day of the deadline. So no one viewed my image in their contest.

 

However, I was happy because it gave me an excuse to try out the Timeless Photography hud and I found it easy to use and I love, love, love it. I love being able to go to the sim as different "people" and creating a "group" shot. I hadn't taken an SL photo in a long time (April 2021! Can you believe it?) so this was fun and I got to pull out some of the stranger avatars I've picked up in my journeys in SL.

 

It is worth noting if Focus does voting contests at their fairs and you want to join the smaller 1000L voting contests, make sure your pictures are submitted before the previous contest ends. They seem to put up the photos to be voted on after the deadline of the previous contest and end the voting on the stated deadline of the contest. This is not true of their big 100,000L photo contest as that seems to be the deadline for photo submissions.
