The students rendered every design with pencil, making each proposal a one-of-a-kind document. Mikhaiel says the process was well-suited to the Menokin project. “This subject is very sensitive and has a lot of emotion that I think you can’t detect with a digitized version,” she says. “When you draw in pencil, you have to be really careful and put a lot of thinking into it.
