The perfect boyfriend
When we were in high school, he put a note that said "Prom?" in the cake
He would show up at my door with flowers for no reason
We would watch tv shows together on skype and countdown so that we started at the exact same time
We would try chicken wings at the different places around our city because we were masochists and loved the spiciness
He would always hold me and make me feel like I was loved and needed
The day we broke up, he offered me a Tylenol because I had a headache. He was still thinking about me.
But this isn't really the story about the perfect boyfriend. He's moved on and I've made peace with it. I've grown up a bit and I've realized the perfect boyfriend doesn't exist. Behind our pictures were avoidable arguments, his issues, my issues. And I would give so much to go back and not be an idiot, and to not take things for granted.
