National Railway Museum NER 1621. NRM 'Locomotion' Site, Shildon

Built in 1893 to a William Worsdell design, This Class M1 locomotive, number 1621 is one of a Class of 20 4-4-0 tender engines built between 1892 and 1894 at the North Eastern Railway's (NER) Gateshead works. After Grouping the NER was absorbed into the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) this locomotive was reclassified as Class D17/1 and was withdrawn in 1945.
