to be introspective
he sees within
and far past the end of his nose
he sees the world broad
he sees the world narrow
he knows all my foibles
my head stuffed like a marrow
like mincemeat life is tasty
like an onion layer by layer
less speed let's not be hasty
says the wisest of all soothsayer
the old bench is mended
the new wood is bare
beneath the green lies the blue paint
we know it's still there
memories are held here
from another life lived
the old and the new meld
together to give
pleasure to me and my little treasure
my little Bengal tiger
we feel so invincible
together we could climb every mountain
even conquer the Eiger.
