I HAVE NO THOUGHTS OF TIME
A CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
“So I am not a broken heart.
I am not the weight I lost or miles I ran and I am not the way I slept on my doorstep under the bare sky in smell of tears and whisky because my apartment was empty and if I were to be this empty I wanted something solid to sleep on. Like concrete.
I am not this year and I am not your fault.
I am muscles building cells, a little every day, because they broke that day, but bones are stronger once they heal and I am smiling to the bus driver and replacing my groceries once a week and I am not sitting for hours in the shower anymore.
I am the way a life unfolds and blooms and seasons come and go and I am the way the Spring always finds a way to turn even the coldest Winter into a field of green and flowers and new life.
I am not your fault.”

WHO KNOWS WHERE THE TIMES GOES – SANDY DENNY & FAIRPORT CONVENTION
I long to hear the blackbird speak
forget old man Winter's icy grip
fold away my Winter clothes
put on lighter shoes; the pages flip
as my diary turns to warmer thoughts
and dreams of sunny days ahead
blossoms hanging drowsily
bowing and nodding their sleepy heads
already the daffodils and crocuses
pop up and greet me in the morn
even little daisies begin to smatter
and scatter with other wildflowers on the lawns
sparrows dart from tree to tree
excited and happy they chirrup and bring
a light-hearted feeling to my Winter soul
a Spring in my step that makes my heart sing
and breathe; enjoy all things beautiful
capture imagination and bottle it
keep it safe until next Winter comes
take it down from the shelf and take a sip
I am sure it will see me through the many
cold, wet and windy Winter's yet to come
if I just keep topping up the best of memories
the warm ones; the loving ones filled with sun
it may seem such a romantic notion
the gathering of this romantic potion
but just a little will last through the seasons
a touch of goodness; a balm-like lotion
if I could do it I would you know
and I would give you a bottle each
set them sail like vessels on the ocean
perpetual sunshine within easy reach
so if you are ever wandering along the sea line
stop to look between the shells and seaweed
you never know you may find some treasure
a bottle of love and sunshine is most all we need
but don't get me wrong, I love the rain
I embrace the snow and the cold
but sometimes my bones ache for the warmth of the sun
to seep through and steep my heart and soul
in the Summer I'll moan if it's too hot
in the Winter I'll moan if it blows too cold
like Goldilocks and her porridge I would like it just so
but nothing is perfect; I know that of old
so I hug to me the slight imperfections
that make up the whole of me
and I hug all the ones I happen across
and give thanks for such wonderful serendipity.
