I look for signs

I walk thin lines

I teeter on the edge

but now I wander

and I wonder

about all those little things unsaid …

 

I look up to the skies

I search; research all those little white lies

I reach for stars that died long ago

but they still wink at me

shine their light so I can see

the truth cannot be hidden; this I know

 

“I wander lonely as a cloud”

another poet tells this tale to me; I read aloud

I search for inspiration in the deepest sea

resist the urge

desist and merge

like a wallflower at a party that was never meant for me

 

I cannot ever hope to understand

the devil in the detail of your hand

I will not even try this time

but if you ever wish to know

the depth of love I did not show

then mourn me but never cross that line

 

I am always dancing in the rain

I think that's why you prick yourself to see

if you can ever feel the pain

to feel anything at all; I hope you do

because then I know there will be hope

I will know that you can cope

without me; all you had of me is the legacy I leave to you.
