HAPPY HALLOWE'EN
A small experiment using Special FX and Sound FX
"He muttered maledictions through clenched teeth and ragged breaths;
low and barely audible he cast the stones and drew his victims to untimely deaths
in blood upon the castle walls a promise had been kept
and on the darkest of all Hallowe'en nights when angels slept
he took upon himself to bleed the world and leave it parched and dried; bereft … “ - AP

BAT OUT OF HELL - MEATLOAF
Up a steep hill and deep in the forest
along a long, dusty, snake-like and twisty curved road
there was an ancient and dried blood-encrusted castle
surrounded by a swamp moat deep, dark,
steeped high with ginormous bloodthirsty toads
The shrill call of vampire bats pierced the night air
a chilling sound to rattle your teeth, skin and bones
making the hounds and the wolves bark and howl;
making me hark back to the days
when the ancients partook in the casting of rune stones
Telling the fortune; old wizened-faced witches and wizards
stirring a cauldron from which the toads hid
not wishing to be a part of the ritual
that crushed their ancestors beneath
the grinding-edged binding of a heavy cast iron lid
The Flair Witch designed a concoction so brutal
it stripped all the flesh off in one fell swoop
the cackle of the coven struck fear in the hearts
of all those stray chickens who flew the coop to the soup
The light and the darkness fought always at night
but the darkness seemed always to win
just once, I pray once, that it would be a fair fight
and the daylight would come early and cancel out all immortal sin
But the witches were stronger than any mere mortal
with their old gnarled hands and yellow claw-like nails
they could stop you in your tracks if you strayed to their lair
drag you kicking and screaming; bleed you out into tin pails
Suddenly there was a rat-a-tat-tat at the door
three times came the sound loud and clear
a palm print dripping with blood signed to halt; disappeared
as the creaking old castle door filled me with fear
Out from the yonder came the loudest evil laughter
and a thousand flapping wings flew over my head
pumpkins carved into cruel-smiled Jack-o'-lanterns
made me think that I might somehow now be irreversibly dead
Footsteps that sounded more like soft-cloven hooves
of the Devil, no doubt it was his doing
that allowed the bats in the belfry to be freed at last
but I would not hit the bottle that contained Mother's Ruin
The film I was taking; the reel kept on running
until finally the hiss of a black cat
arched back in the window; silhouetted and framed
could the explanation ever be so simple as that!
But then came heavy breathing and shadows on walls
hands bent and crooked; a monster with no shame
and there was my face; cross-eyed; wide with fear
butterflies drawn like moths to a flame
The telephone rang shrilly; saved by the bell
the heavy breather came first; that part was strange
I was startled; bewildered; couldn't move under his spell
the werewolf-crossed behemoth scratched furiously with mange
Why is it that wrong numbers are never engaged
the telephone call wasn't for me
he turned tail and ran; I heard the creak of the door
the spell broke; I awoke and at last I was free
But even as I sighed with relief; my happiness was short-lived
as I heard the blood-curdling screams of a girl
I won the fight and the right to stay standing on this pitiful night
but the cost was the life of another less fortunate;
the room spun around; my head was in a whirl
Later I saw her laying inert on the floor
her straight blond hair had curled and was lavender-dyed
her eyes were wide open staring up to the ceiling
her mouth gaping wide for the exit of flies from inside
I tell you this story, not to fill you with fear
but because there is a moral to be learned
that just because we all survived THIS Hallowe'en
next year or the year after it might be YOUR turn … !!!!!!
Ha ha ha!! Please do NOT have nightmares. This is just a silly story of no importance or consequence at all … or is it … ; 0)))))
