THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL UNNI <3
“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you...I could walk through my garden forever.”
― Alfred Tennyson
It may seem a strange choice of song for my beautiful Unni, but I know that she loves this song and I really wanted to give her a special gift on her birthday. Well, you know how we suffer for our art, so I will tell you that I walked a lot of miles in my newest Doc Martens just to get less than 3 minutes footage and wished I'd worn my old ones, because I skinned both of my heels and hopefully they will heal quickly without blistering thanks to the power of Germolene, Savlon and a box of plasters!!! ; 0)) Well you also know that I often inadvertently cause a stir wherever I go … that's not meant to sound big-headed! Far from it, but strange things just seem to happen around me and this occasion was no different! So, my anonymous friend and Flickr buddy was holding a torch and shining it on my boots and I was walking stooped over a little to watch my screen while I filmed, shouting over my shoulder to him like I was some kind of big-shot Director and I was following arrows and road markings and walking on double yellow lines and down the middle of the road (Don't worry! It was quiet!) and even a miniature railway track, but at the start of our journey we were stopped by two policeman who wondered what on earth we were up to and came to the conclusion that we'd dropped a ring or something and were desperately searching for it. I was able to reassure them that I hadn't lost one and that my friend hadn't given me one, but Valentine's Day was imminent which freaked him out, ha ha!!! … ; 0))) So we had a laugh and a chat and I told them what I was up to and I wished really that I had filmed them and included them because they really were rather beautiful, but most likely they would have declined even though we seemed to have made their nightly patrol more interesting! : 0)) Very friendly policemen and nice to know that we are well protected when we're wandering about at night, even if it must have appeared to them that we were more in need of protection from ourselves!!! ; 0)))) Thanks to my anonymous friend and Flickr buddy for his torch-holding abilities, loan of his shadow to walk over and for suggesting filming at night. Was really interesting to see how the shadows turned out when I view it back and gives the video an arty feel that I love. Hope you love it too and to you, my wonderful friend, Unni, lots and lots of love, good health and happiness and may all your wishes come true!! xoxoxo
This beautiful world seen through Unni's loving eyes
is warm and enchanting; always truthful; no lies
with Summer in her heart though knee-deep in snow
with boots on she's laughing everywhere that she goes
Who needs snow angels when you have a friend such as this
whose warm heart and smile create for you a world of such bliss
She photographs a flower like no-one else does
her magnificent macro; her bokeh sweeps like a brush
of an artist that paints even the tiniest of details
creates art with a click; her clear perspective never fails
the clarity of the mystical magical world that she sees
conveys a beautiful soul; she will always succeed
to bring to this world the ideals we all wish
and look for in each other and in ourselves that we fish
and hold on to the sunbeams that we catch so that we
can radiate the beauty that is the essence of dear Unni
magnify it all out to encompass us all
what a beautiful world where we can stand tall
so proud to know this beautiful woman; my friend
Happy Birthday, my dear Unni; lots of love to you I send xoxoxoxo
p.s. My beautiful Unni, when the Police pulled up I saw a camper van with Kon-tiki on the side! Norwegian connection, right!!! Kon-Tiki expedition led by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl. It seemed like a perfect sign! : 0)))
p.p.s. I bet he didn't get blisters!!!
