I'M JUST A SOUL WHOSE INTENTIONS ARE GOOD
Celebrating my 2nd anniversary here on Flickr. Thank you to all you lovely people, some of whom have been with me since my maiden voyage! I may not have the face that launched a 1,000 ships, but thanks to you I have notched up over 2.6 million views! You have inspired me; you have brought me comfort, always you have been loyal and I have reaped the benefit of your many wonderful thoughts and kind words. Heartfelt thanks my dear friends! <3

DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD – NINA SIMONE
The balance of our lives at stake
the unilateral line
we ride the silent unicycle
pretending we are fine
one wheel; one seat
no room for tandem
going it alone seems right
we travel on as if slow motion
can fail to halt us in our plight
we take in very little scenic flashes
we block out sounds; replace with music
we breathe in and out;
swings and roundabouts
let filter through some jazz or blues; it
matters not; whatever works
pick a tune and press repeat
it's soothing; all that repetition
cools our brows even as our feet
push the pedals round and round
we feel ourselves in sepia
it's warm like coffee latte with
sprinkles as sweet as Stevia
on and on and round and round
the spokes in life unhindered
finding balance in this world
is hard when we lack kindred
salty waves lap at the shore
licking granules from our lips
foghorns sound to warn the sailors
drifting by us on their ships
on the promenade we find
a tranquil breeze to ease our minds
see people willing to be kind
heal our wounds; the joyful binds
it is the glue that seals our cuts
fills the empty spaces between
closes our ears to all the tuts
that would otherwise steer us far downstream
two steps forward; one step back
we'll reach our destination
eventually we'll get back on track
fulfil our purpose; our imagination
will give us hope; will encourage us
to take the chances needed
so that we achieve the best we can
and let unkindness go unheeded
I think this guy had only one arm
his unicycle had only one wheel
and yet he listened to his heart
his resolve like his machine of stainless steel
hardy; courageous and undeterred
he journeyed on regardless
and that's the example I wish to follow
leave all my doubts behind; discarded.
