In the light of contemplation

the truth of all things comes to light

the truth of textural understanding

of age; rebirth; of long hindsight

historic layers; marks and imprints

footprints; finger prints and stains

scratches; polished imperfections

leaded windows; smudged by rain

cool as night within this building

the ancient stones beneath my feet

chequered; faded; worn and smooth

through centuries the people meet

congregate and contemplate

saying; praying; laying down

the solidity of strong foundations

the solidarity beneath one crown

no matter what religion we are

we are all humans; we all have needs

to live; to love; to join together

share all we have; let the hungry feed

let loving arms surround each other

comfort each mortal soul you see

beneath the shelter of communal skies

we live; we love; you're home to me.
