Do you remember the day Wilson set sail

on the open waves to you

he kept coming back to me that day

he was loyal, I'll give him his due

but finally he rose on the crest of a wave

and I watched him drift out of sight

I kept asking if he'd arrived on your shore

but he never turned up that night

nor the night after that and so it went on

a sign? who knows what it means

all I know is that Wilson is out there somewhere

perhaps he turned up in a can of sardines

Wherever he is and wherever he lands

I hope he'll avoid that Tom Hanks

who made a raft float with a portable loo

video tape, tree bark and planks

Happy Birthday to you my dear “old” friend

I hope you will have a great day

with a party, a cake and maybe a clown

and a cake as big as a house

I hope you're insured; once all those candles are lit

if not, then get ready to douse

I might jump out and say something naughty

you know that this poem is just tongue in cheek

and you know that I'm wishing you well

I'll have a wee dram and I'll be toasting your health
