Fashion Royalty Luxe Life Convention 2018

I have been playing some nice music and making this collage, really enjoying this review. Woow look at that, we got so many FR ladies this year. Let's see:

2017 - 8 dolls

2016 - 9 dolls

2015 - 9 dolls

Hmm I had a feeling we had less FRs on previous conventions. Anyway, this year Jason Wu himself designed all dolls from this collection. For some reason I had a feeling that concept for outfits for some of the ladies is familiar (read old) and Wu confirmed that he prepared this collection for 2011, I think. The theme is Luxe Life, and I am not sure all ladies followed the guidelines...

The first doll revealed was Love for Luxe Veronique Perrin. If you are following my stream you probably know Vero 2.0 is one of my top 5 sculpts and Haute Societe is one of my most favorite dolls and I adore that screening. So, you can guess how excited I was when I saw her. For me, the convention ended there, they could have offered us most ugliest dolls, I was still satisfied. Just look at her there and imagine her with the crown and the same dress, but longer, she could have been convention doll easily (IMO). The makeup and haircolor remind me on Shimmering Cooper Luchia and I think IT saves this combination for special dolls. I think outfit is very nice and compliments her soft face features. Regarding the outfit, the only thing I do not like are the shoes, too bulky and not coordinated with the dress. Regarding the doll herself, I think this hairstyle is too simple for convention dolls. It just isn't special. The same counts for Vanessa, Adele and Kyori. Still, very beautiful Vero.

Subtle Affluence Eugenia Perrin Frost is one of the dolls announced previously. I was excited to see her and wanted to preorder her. But, I didn't, and I am glad. She has World on a String screening that we have seen on several dolls. I do not like it. The rolling eyes just do not look good in person. Makeup color palette is very nice, however her hairstyle, although unique (she is the only one with it) makes her look old. The outfit is OK, but I am far from impressed. I can not see in what aspect she fits into the collection. IMO she is the weakest link in the collection. I was expecting much more. At least she comes with the bag.

Gilded Oligarch Tatyana Alexandrova - after passing on the Goddess, I decided to preorder this one. I like her! She reminds me on Live Wire, she has beautiful green eyeshadow and dark berry lips that sparkle. There is something regal about her and I think she followed the rules looking very luxe. She has two-piece suit that looks like a dress. I think it can be combined with long skrit or some nice corset in different color. The shoes are a buzz killer here. Nice bag. Oh and her earrings are probably my favorite of the bunch.

Prosperous Complexity Kyori Sato - has the Faded Desert screening. I remember that Wu designed this screening and that was the reason why I got Faded Desert in the first place. She left my collection quite quickly. After FD we got two more convention dolls with the same screening, none of them were popular. I have a feeling this one does not have better destiny. There is something wrong about the screening that I can not figure out. On paper it looks nice, but in person something is just wrong. Her outfit reminds me on Tricks of the Trade Eugenia. It is predictable and boring.

When I saw Opulence For The Bold Vanessa Perrin I thought oh look they made Wild at Heart Vanessa and Veronique! I hope some collector that owns both will post a photo, would love to see them together. I love Van 1.0 but it seems I do not have luck with that sculpt, I do not like any I got in the past. I will not buy this one because of the hairstyle, high forehead and thin eyebrows combo. I do like the screening sans the eyebrows. I do not know why they decided to use Aerodynamic instead of Evermore which is my favorite screening for Van. I do like the makeup and hair color palette. It seems Vanessa picked her wardrobe with Tatyana as I think their outfits are the best, except for the shoes. They give me Yves Saint Laurent vibe.

Walking On Gold Adele Makeda - once again, predictable and boring. Faces of Adele 2.0 is much, much more beautiful Adele than this one, at least when it comes to the hairstyle. Her outfit is inspired by one of the Christian Lacroix looks. I like the top, it can be paired with lots of other pieces, but not the skirt. The boots look terrible. The only thing I really like about her is her jewelry.

Luxuriously Gifted Natalia Fatale was a gift for all guests. Now you probable think I do not like her, but you are wrong. She has Optic Verve screening which is simply beautiful. I love her! Still, I wish Jason gave her nude lips and instead of pink eyeshadow, I would go with golden. Also, she would look great with OV hairstyle in this color. Too bad, I am thinking about rerooting mine. Her outfits is very boring, it reminds me on one of the Monogram outfits.

Affluent Demeanor Agnes von Weiss - was a convention centrepiece. Again, predictable. I know everyone is probably crazy for her, but I am not. She looks a bit washed out and I do not like the hint of red eyeshadow, it never looks good in person IMO. Those pink streaks in the hair... OMG... Still, overall, I have to admit she is a pretty doll. Her dress is very nice and I like her crown, that is something special.

Inspired Grandeur Elyse Jolie - was a convention doll. This time, I like the shoes and the jewelry. Everything else is not to my liking. Her screening and makeup color palette reminds me on Spring Forward Eugenia. I am not impressed, it looks too loud. Again, pink streaks in the hair... rolling eyes... Imagine Vero instead of her, she would be gorgeous. If you have this outfit for sale please let me know, I want to make my own convention doll :)

Overall, I think this collection is good. Take a look at them all together, the collection looks quite solid. It isn't brilliant as NuFace collection, which is fresh, beautiful and luxe indeed. But, still, I think there are a few potential grails in the collection and some fashion pieces I really like. However, I regret Jason didn't use Dolce & Gabbana Fall-Winter 2015 looks for inspiration.
