Croatian Fire department air force: the drop
Lightning struck down from a summer storm to the high hills covered with dried out vegetation. The next minute some smoke started to soar up then the fire escalated and the whole hilltop was on fire above the city of Omis. It was a shocking scene.
First on the scene was the Fire Department of Omis with one commander car and only one fire engine. I wondered what they can do whit this big fire on the top of a mountain... Unfortunately nothing just standing on the edge of the hill and waiting for the help, from above!
And it came from the sky in form of a flying angel. And the real fight began against the fire.
The pilot was really well trained he stroke down to the fire again and again then flew to Adriatic Sea to refill. The battle of the elements took hours but at the end firefighters team won and the city was relieved.
