Wheal Prosper Engine House, Rinsey, Cornwall
Now owned and maintained by the National Trust, this engine house worked for about six years from 1860. The house itself contained a 30 inch pumping engine. The graceful chimney stack stands at the opposite corner from where the boiler house originally stood. The mine itself was never particulary "prosperous" despite its name. It produced mostly tin, although the actual output is not recorded. The engine house was used by the BBC for the filming of 'Poldark' in the 1970s.
Just a short distance to the right of the engine house can be seen a small quarry where the stone for the building was originally sourced.
A few hundred yards along the left pathway can be seen the capped Michell's Whim Shaft. The depth of this shaft reached 420 feet below surface.
In the bottom right is Rinsey Beach. The entrance to a cave can be seen here into a which an adit opens from Wheal Prosper above.
The image was taken from a DJI Phantom Vision 2 Plus quad-copter.
