Perhaps surprisingly, film has never died, although it may be an endangered species. Recently, there has been an increase in interest in film photography as well as an urge for digital photographers to capture the elusive essence of film. Software is now available to convert digital files to film lookalikes, but there is nothing truly like film. By using film we hark back to a slower pace of photographic life, when we took more time over composition and exposure, knowing we had a limited number of frames on a roll of film. Film has a distinctive look and feel – an incredible colour palette and tangible softness.
